Actor Sonakshi Sinha observed her first Karwa Chauth on Sunday, October 20, and her husband, actor Zaheer Iqbal, joined her in keeping the fast. While waiting for the moon and feeling hungry, Sonakshi made a video of herself and Zaheer, likely to pass the time. In the video, she asked Zaheer his reason for keeping the fast, as traditionally, Karwa Chauth is observed by wives praying for the long lives of their husbands.
In the video, Sonakshi is seen getting goofy and playing with a floral accessory. Zaheer asks her, “What are you doing?” The Dabangg actor, amused by her own goofiness, tells him, “I am hungry. Don’t know what to do.” She then asks Zaheer, “Are you not hungry?” hinting that he is also fasting for her on Karwa Chauth.
As Zaheer admits to being hungry, Sonakshi asks him, “Why have you kept Karwa Chauth?” Zaheer quickly quips, “Because if I had eaten in front of you, you would have killed me.” His response leaves Sonakshi laughing, and she hits him in jest.
Sharing the video, Sonakshi wrote, “Find a pati who won’t let you starve alone… whatever his reason may be. Happy Karwa Chauth… our first (sic).”
Sonakshi’s Heeramandi co-stars Sanjeeda Sheikh and Manisha Koirala reacted to the video with heart emojis.
Earlier, Sonakshi wished Zaheer on Karwa Chauth while promoting a jewellery brand. She wrote, “Praying for your lambi umar, today and every day #HappyKarwachauth Mr. Husband @iamzahero (red heart emoji) (sic).”
Zaheer had a quirky response to Sonakshi’s wish as he commented on her post, “Happy Karwachauth Jaan (red heart) P.S. – Longer life means more time to trouble you… don’t think you thought this through (laughing emoji).”
Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal got married on June 23 this year. The couple had a simple wedding at Sonakshi’s home in Mumbai, attended by her close friends and family members.
Sharing pictures from their wedding, the couple wrote on Instagram, “On this very day, seven years back (23.06.2017), in each other’s eyes, we saw love in its purest form and decided to hold on to it. Today that love has guided us through all the challenges and triumphs… leading up to this moment… where, with the blessings of both our families and both our gods… we are now man and wife. Here’s to love, hope, and all things beautiful with each other, from now until forever (sic).”
On the work front, Sonakshi was last seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Netflix series Heeramandi and garnered praise for her performance.
